The True Human – NNN 16
This year Names Not Numbers 2016 had “The True Human” as a theme. We were pleased to be part of the conference and to offer a food for thought breakfast on the theme: Today’s feminism: What do Women want? It ended up being a really interesting panel discussion chaired by Alice Sherwood, visiting fellow at King’s College London. Other speakers on the panel were Claire Fox, Director at the Institute of Ideas, Susie Orbach, Psychoanalyst and writer, Rosamund Urwin, columnist at the Evening Standard and Ayesha Hazarika, former adviser to the Labour leadership. The evening before I read Rebecca Solnit’s book “Men explain Things to me”, which was very appropriate. I then learned a new word: Mansplaining.
What I really like about Names Not Numbers is that offers a great opportunity to think about thinking. We need more of that especially in the complex world that we live in today.
