Swedish chef Niklas Ekstedt at OFM Awards

The Observer Food Monthly Awards 2015 is the evening when chefs and foodies gather to learn more about the latest trends and find out who has received the awards for among others best restaurant, best personality, best cook book, best blog and best market. This year’s OFM awards was quite special as we were served the Swedish chef Niklas Ekstedt’s fire pit menu. It was absolutely delicious. It was great fun to see Ekstedt in action in the courtyard of the Freemasons’ Hall with pans on burning wood.

After this exciting start we all gathered to hear Jay Rayner and Claudia Winkleman present the awards. We were proud that Visit Sweden sponsored the OFM Award for Best Ethical Restaurant. The award was won by The Clink Restaurant in Brixton for “unlocking the human potential”. The Clink is a most impressive restaurant with local food, recycling and composting where sustainability of people is at the center. The restaurant is attached to HMP Brixton and serves to rehabilitate prisoners by providing them with skills and better opportunities to find a job once they leave prison.

Congratulations to Visit Sweden and all those who organised and sponsored the event, but above all to those who won. It was a most inspiring evening in so many different ways.
