Sweden wins Eurovision Song Contest

Sweden did it again. On Saturday the Swedish singer Måns Zelmerlöw won the Eurovision Song Contest with the great tune ‘Heroes’. As always it was a very entertaining evening. There is just something about Eurovision that makes it so much fun to watch. It is also one of those evenings when you see some absolutely hilarious twitter comments. It was a bit nerve-wracking to watch the vote counting as it took a while before it became clear that Sweden was going to win. We were very thankful that Britain gave us 12 points.

It was the sixth time Sweden won the competition and we very much look forward to hosting Eurovision in Sweden next year. This year was the 60th anniversary of Eurovision Song Contest and there were 200 million viewers from 50 different countries. Even the Chinese seem to have taken an interest in the event. I still haven’t given up on Britain winning the Eurovision. Britain has such a brilliant music industry that when the British decide to land among the top five – it will. Maybe 2017 would be a good year to make an extra effort to win the competition…
