Exciting Nordic Sculpture

The other evening I was delighted to open SKULPTUR, an exhilarating exhibition of contemporary sculpture from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. This is the first time ever that London hosts a large scale group exhibition focusing entirely on Nordic sculpture.

The exhibition showcases artists, many of whom were present at the opening, and works that never have been shown in London before. I had the privilege to walk around the exhibition and was truly fascinated and impressed by what I saw.
This was the perfect occasion to celebrate the immense talent that we see in the area of Nordic sculpture. It was also a great opportunity to celebrate the very close Nordic co-operation in the cultural sphere – a co-operation that successfully allows us to showcase Nordic cultural expressions in joint exhibitions.

We are very grateful to the Royal British Society of Sculptors for initiating this project and thank everyone who has worked so hard in order to make SKULPTUR happen, not least the artists.

I am sure that this exhibition will offer an excellent opportunity for Nordic and British artists to meet and exchange different perspectives. Something tells me that this exhibition will be the first in a series of exhibitions.
