Swede chosen as Curry Life European Chef of the Year

The Swedish chef Karim Rezaul has done it again! This was the third time that Rezaul was selected as the Curry Life European chef of the year. This is a tremendous honour and is a clear sign that Rezaul is an outstanding chef who has distinguished himself in providing superb quality, consistency and culinary excellence over the years. I remember meeting Rezaul the first time he won the award in 2011 and seeing him again at yesterday’s Curry Life gala dinner was a real pleasure. I was most honoured to present the award to him together with Esther McVey, Minister of State for Employment.

Chef Karim Rezaul was born in Bangladesh and moved to Sweden in the early 1990s. Today he runs four very succesful restaurants in Stockholm and the Indian Garden restaurants are the perfect destination for real curry lovers. The food is excellent with the best of ingredients.

The curry industry is huge in the UK and I was told yesterday that there are approximately 18,000 Indian restaurants in the country. In Sweden there are only 100 Indian restaurants, but the number keeps increasing. With Indian Gardens it is easy to see why.
