Swedish Cleantech Tour
Last week the Swedish embassy hosted an investor seminar as part of the Swedish Cleantech Tour. The event was organized in collaboration with the Swedish incubator STING – Stockholm Innovation and Growth, and LEAD – Linköping University Entrepreneurship and Development.
Energy and environmental technology are two of Sweden’s most important export industries and are top priorities in the trade promotion strategy for the embassy. The aim of this investor seminar was to offer an opportunity for British investors to learn more about some truly fascinating energy and cleantech solutions that emanate from Sweden.
Our use of energy and the impact it has on the environment are key elements in the political and business landscape. Both UK and Sweden are quickly changing into more efficient, low-carbon economies, equipped to meet the legally binding climate change targets. There are a number of ongoing collaboration projects between Sweden and the UK already.
However, we rely on innovative, sustainable solutions from companies at the forefront of technology to contribute to these changes. Successful innovation usually stems from close collaboration between academia, the private and public sectors and infrastructures that enhance creative environments and allow for innovation and dynamic talent growth.
It is also of great importance that potential innovation is given the opportunity to reach the stages of commercialization. Startups need the encouragement to continue to develop and companies should constantly aim at increasing their competitiveness and growth.
The investor seminar was a success and we got a lot of positive feedback from investors. They clearly appreciated learning more about some ground breaking companies that are products of Sweden’s enabling innovation environment.
