UK – Swedish Culinary “Friendly”

It was a big treat to have the British chef Adam Bennett and the Swedish chef Tommy Myllymäki prepare a lunch at the Swedish residence. This was an exceptional meeting between two of the best chefs in the UK and Sweden, who are both representing their countries at the European Bocuse d’Or championship in Stockholm in May. Both chefs have been in the completion before and did really well.

Today was not a competition, but rather a friendly between our countries. It was about gastronomic cooperation and bringing brilliant minds and ideas together in the kitchen. It was great to see Adam Bennett and Tommy Myllymäki working side by side. Adam Bennett was responsible for the wonderful starter and Tommy Myllymäki the fabulous main course. Then they jointly created a fantastic dessert.

During the lunch we got some great insights about current culinary trends in Sweden and the UK from two very prestigious chefs – Brian Turner who is currently the President of the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts and Fredrik Eriksson who is a Board member of Gastronomy Sweden.

I now very much look forward to the European Bocuse d’Or championship in Stockholm and will follow the event with great interest. The competition will be fierce, but both Myllymäki and Bennett are likely to do really well.
