Swedish naval vessels on the Thames

It is not every day that you see two Swedish mine countermeasures vessels (MCMV) sailing up the Thames. These naval vessels took part in the world’s leading security and defence exhibition DSEI and were docked right outside the exhibition hall. The naval vessels are designed for the location of and destruction of naval mines. On Wednesday night a reception was held on board the vessels and the reception got so crowded that people had to move between the ships. I thoroughly enjoyed speaking with the crews that included both men and women.

There were quite a few Swedish companies present at the DSEI exhibition and it is very clear how much cooperation there is between Swedish and British defence industries. The Swedish State Secretary for Defence Carl von der Esch headed a Swedish delegation that attended the fair.
