The future of Sweden
If you refuse to look back and do not dare to look ahead, you need to look out, said the famous Swedish writer and actor Tage Danielsson. This quote can be found at the very beginning of the final report by the Government’s Commission on the Future of Sweden. It eloquently describes the need to be prepared for the future. The report was presented at Stockholm University in the presence of the Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt as well as his coalition partners Jan Björklund, Annie Lööf and Göran Hägglund.
The Commission was set up by the Government in November 2011 and is chaired by the Swedish Prime Minister. The Commission has delivered a number of interesting reports on a variety of topics such as welfare, demography, migration and the labour market. So far only the report “Sweden in a World of Growing Uncertainties” has been published in English. Hopefully all reports will shortly be available in English.
