Professor Joseph Nye on the future of power
It was a real treat to have Professor Joseph S. Nye, Jr. as a dinner speaker at the Swedish residence.
In collaboration with ECFR we had gathered a really good group of politicians, economists, journalists, business leaders and diplomats around the table and the discussions were most interesting. The central theme was not surprisingly the future of power.
Nye is a longtime analyst of power and a hands-on practitioner in government. Nye stated the case why power resources in a multipolar world are adapting to the digital age and how smart power strategies must include more than military strength.
It was particularly interesting to hear about the future role of the US and the “rising rest”. In a European setting it was inevitable that much of the discussions would focus on Europe and the crisis in the Eurozone.
